73rd Reading (Park) Scouts

73rd Reading (Park) Scout Group is:

Scouting is a worldwide youth movement with more than 28 million young people and adults in 216 countries and territories, involved in fun and adventure, working together and helping others. The primary aim is supporting young people in their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual development, so that they can play full and active roles in their local, national and international communities.

Scouting began at Park in 1932, 25 years after Robert Baden-Powell, a Lieutenant General in the British Army, held the first Scout Camp at Brownsea Island in England.

The Scout Group is led by a leadership team who each have a wealth of experience of working with young people to deliver fun and exciting activities whether within an evening meeting, a community visit, or away on a camp or expedition.

Leadership within Scouting can be very rewarding and enjoyable, and every volunteer has a large support network available to them including initial and ongoing training, as well as informal mentoring and support from other adults within the group.
